Hundreds of British citizens are still stuck in Aghanistan. The Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab admitted as much today.

Tomorrow he faces an inquisition by MPs on the Foreign Affairs select committee.

It’s emerged this evening that the Prime Minister’s special representative on Afghanistan is already in Doha to meet senior Taliban figures to underline the importance Britain places on getting its citizens and Afghan support staff out.

All together, more than 123,000 people have been airlifted from Afghanistan, seventeen thousand by the UK.

For those who have made it back, there is relief for them and the joy for their families.
